How Do We Fill Our Time?

We typically work in the kennel 8-9 hours a day, 5 days a week. It's a relatively short commute to work (a 5 min walk), so we have a lot of free time!
On our days off, we usually have to make a trip into town (20 minute drive) to do our groceries, drop off the household recycling and change sheets at the hotel. We also have to do the 'boring' adult chores, such as meal prepping, and cleaning the house.
In winter, the local ski hill opens up. It's only one slope, with one lift, and it's only open 2 evenings per week. Since you can borrow equipment from a store in town for free, it's relatively easy to hit the slope after work.

Sometimes, we (with consent from Joyce), steal a dog from the kennel and take them for an adventure. The dogs can come into our house for cuddles, come for a walk along a winter trail, or come with us in the car to do a proper hike. A few weeks ago, we took Kita and some firewood up a mountain and made a fire to grill some sausages. I think it was her best day ever.
Every week or two, we also have a big dinner with the whole kennel team (including Joyce and her husband). We take it in turns to cook, and we've had some really great meals so far. Jessie and I made nachos last week, so we're off the hook for a little while - it's someone else's turn now!
A local friend and the owner of our house, Viktor, very kindly brought his caravan-converted-sauna to our lake in November. It only takes 30 minutes to heat up, and I can tell you for free that it can get very steamy very quickly. When you're dripping with sweat, you can step outside and roll around in the snow, or even do a polar plunge in the lake to cool off. We are also big fans of the jacuzzi at the hotel. We usually go weekly, after a big day at work, because the warm water helps us to debrief and relax.
We have a great team in the kennel this season, and the 5 of us in the house have a lot of fun together. Every evening, we watch a series together. Often, I rope Nick into doing 'Just Dance' with me, which usually ends with me on the floor in fits of giggles. When there's an aurora, we can watch it from the warmth of my bedroom window, or, if it's exploding, we'll go outside together and watch it in awe while having a group hug.
